Cheers on Your Birthday

Here is another of the cards we made at my Masculine Stamp-a-Stack. I absolutely LOVE this stamp set, Happy Hour. It's so versatile... who doesn't like a cocktail now and again? It works for celebration cards, birthday cards, and just for fun! This time I used it to make a simple, fun Birthday card that would also work for a guy. To make it "guy-friendly" I used colors that looked a little more masculine, Cajun Craze and Summer Starfruit, along with the ever popular Crumb cake. I paired it with a little piece of designer paper from the Comfort Cafe paper pack.

Here's a close-up:

Open Sea

Here is one of the cards we're making at my "Masculine Stamp-a-Stack" tonight. I love how this card turned out... the color combo is a little different than I've tried before and I really like it. I used the Anchor stamp from the Open Sea stamp set to make a background image. Then I cut out some layers using the framelits dies in the big shot (labels collection) and made a simple thank you card with the ship. The bakers twine adds a little more nautical feel too. This would also be a great birthday card -- just change the sentiment!

stamps: Open Sea, Fabulous Phrases
ink:Early Espresso, Cajun Craze
paper: Cajun Craze, Early Espresso, Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Not Quite Navy
big shot: Framelits dies (labels)
other: Bakers Twine (early espresso)

Here's To You!

Here is another card using the set Clockworks. This is another simple card, just a few basic colors and layers make it quick and easy. I love the color combo I tried on this one- Gumball Green and Midnight muse with my favorite neutral-- Crumb Cake. I think I could use crumb cake on nearly every card... it works with so many colors!! I also used the new Chevron embossing folder on this one. This would be a great guy card for a birthday or any celebration.

stamps: Clockworks, friendly phrases

Retro Cheers!

Doesn't this color combo look retro? That wasn't my intention when I designed this card but it definitely turned out that way! I think it goes well with the stylized cocktail images, don't you?  I've been on a roll of making super simple cards lately... Sometimes I get carried away with adding on too much stuff so it's feeling very refreshing to do some simple cards! I used the new Fancy fan embossing folder on this card and if you look closely, you can see it really coordinates with the patterns in the drinks! How cool is that?

stamps:  Happy Hour
ink: Early Espresso, Summer Starfruit, Pumpkin pie, Pool Party, Old olive

Cheers to you!

One of my favorite sets in the new Stampin' Up! catalog is this set -- Happy Hour! I just love all the sayings and the cute cocktails with the patterns in them. Here is a very simple birthday card made using this set. This card would be great for a male or female... it's pretty neutral! I love having cards like this in my stash... birthdays are always sneaking up on me!  I also used one of the new embossing folders -- this one is called Fancy Fan and is so pretty... I love the pattern!

Birthday Clocks

Here is another car using the Clockworks Stamp set. I used the very masculine color combo of cherry cobbler, Early espresso and sahara sand. I also used the new "Chevron" Embossing folder... the new folder s are awesome because they are longer and cover the whole length of a card front (5.5 inches) without leaving an edge!  I also added some bakers twine to help add a little texture -- I like how it mirrors the diagonal of the chevron pattern!!

stamps:Clockworks, Teeny Tiny Wishes
ink:Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, Sahara Sand
paper::Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, Sahara Sand, Whisper White

Clockworks

I've finally had some time to play with some of the new sets in the New Catalog! One set I thought was really cool was this set, Clockworks. It has clocks and gears and some cool backgrounds. It's perfect for making masculine cards. For this card I made a simple white strip which I stamped in a random pattern... This is one of the easiest layouts for a card that always looks great! I added a little bakers twine and the sentiment, You are simply Wonderful. Here is a close-up:

stamps:Clockworks, Friendly Phrases
ink: Gumball Green, Crumb Cake, Midnight Muse, Early Espresso
paper: Gumball Green, Midnight Muse, Whisper white

Pac Man Punch Art

I'm on a roll with the punch art lately. Since my little brother likes video games I thought it would be fun to make him this pac man card for his birthday! I used the owl punch, turned upside down for the ghosts and the rest is just various circles! How cute is it? It was really pretty simple to make. I added on the Happy Birthday from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set --this is a really great word set to have since it has something for pretty much every occasion and they all fit perfect in the word window punch.
Here is a close-up:

stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
ink: black
paper: basic black, daffodil delight, real red, tempting turquoise, whisper white

Nurse Owls!

Last weekend we attended the graduation party of a cousin who had just finished her nursing school. A while back I had seen a sample where someone had used the owl punch the owl punch as a nurse and have wanted to try it ever since so this was the perfect occasion. I have to say, these owls turned out to be super adorable!!  They were so cute I could' t make just one… I made a bunch. One was for the Congrats card for our cousin. I used a the  "congratulations" sentiment from a retired set… I tend to hang onto most of my word sets when they retire… you never know when you will need a certain word or greeting! I also used some retired paper from my stash, paired with so saffron  and crumb cake card stock. The branch is cut out using the Little leaves sizzlit die.

Then I decided they would work well for some "Get well" cards too… so I made one like this:

I also have been making a few clothespin magnets so I added some owls onto a few of those as well - what a perfect gift for anyone who is sick or works as a nurse!!

stamps: Various retired sentiments
ink: basic black
paper: so saffron, whisper white, crumb cake, various designer paper (retired)
Big Shot: little leaves sizzlit die, square lattice embossing folder, houndstooth embossing folder
other: Owl builder punch, itty bitty shapes punch pack, dimensionals

Herringbone Technique

Here is the other technique from the last technique class that I forgot to post! We used the set Bright Blossoms and the coordinating Summer smooches designer paper to create this Herringbone technique card.  This technique is a great way to use up designer paper scraps since you just need a bunch of little strips to make it! I used the Multi-purpose adhesive sheets to make a big sticky square to adhere to.. these work awesome for stuff like this!

stamps: Bright Blossoms, fabulous phrases,
ink: Real Red, Pacific Point, daffodil delight, old olive
paper: whisper white, daffodil delight, pacific point, bashful blue, Summer Smooches Designer paper
Big shot: Framelits dies (Labels)
other: 1" circle punch, Multi-purpose adhesive sheets, dimensionals

Baby Cards!

When I discovered the gingham technique I thought it would also work great for baby cards - and I never seem to have baby cards on hand when I need them so Inked up a bunch of gingham backgrounds in baby colors (see post here for details on the gingham background) and made some quick baby cards to have for my stash!

These cards are also simple and use the stamp set Fox and Friends (retired) and a variety of circle punches and embellishments.  I made a couple gender -neutral green and yellow cards using the giraffe and lion.

Here's a pink and yellow version for a baby girl using the monkey and some little flowers!

And the Boy version, using a turtle and one of the itty bitty buttons.

stamps: Fox and Friends (retired), fabulous phrases,  teeny tiny wishes
ink: Various colors
paper: Various colors
Big shot:,Stripes embossing folder
other: Bakers twine, dimensionals, Various circle punches, itty bitty buttons, itty bitty shapes punch pack, self adhesive pearls
