Chocolate Nugget Slider

I have so many things to post but I've been so busy making cookies, making Christmas cards and trying to get ready for Christmas, I'm sadly far behind on my blog! Here is a cool nugget slider that I made as a class project. The acetate slides off to make a really cute treat. I love how these turned out. I stamped on the actate using white staz-on ink. The candy is hershey nuggets, wrapped in designer paper. Then I stamped a tag using the scallop cirlce and circle punches and added it on with the felt ribbon (love this stuff). I think it looks as good as, if not better than, a store-bought treat!!

tile magnets...

Happy Monday. I hope everyone is staying warm...it's REALLY cold here today. I want to share with you some of the projects we made at my gift workshop last Saturday. This one is a set of magnets. I bought some tiles at Menard's (they're around 2 x 2 inches) and stamped them with Staz-On. Then I used chalks and a blender pen to color them. Once they were dry, I put sticky strip around the edges and dipped them in microbeads. They turned out so cute!! Then you just stick a magnet on the back and ...tah dah! What a cute little stocking stuffer. I put mine in a little cello bag with a topper to dress them up. Hope you like!

Naughty Kitty card!

Here is a naughty kitty card using Pink Cat Studio stamps. I have two kitties and I could just see them hanging out in my tree like this guy! So Naughty! It cracks me up. I love it! To help give the effect of the kitty actually IN the tree, stamped this image three times, colored them and then cut them out and layered them with dimensionals so it's popping off the card. It turned out so adorable!! The cardstock is all from Stampin' Up! and can you believe it, I didn't even use ribbon on this card! Yikes. I colored in the tree and kitty using blender pens and ink from the lids of the ink pads. Then I colored the ornaments with markers and went over the red spots with red stickles (sparkly glue...love that stuff). Hope you like it!

stamps:Christmas Kitty from Pink Cat Studio
ink:Basic Black, others to color
paper: whisper white, chocolate chip, kiwi kiss, real red
other: scallop border punch, aquapainters, stickles red glitter.

Meowy Christmas!

Here is another card I made with the stamps from Pink Cat Studio. Isn't she adorable? I stamped this with black ink and colored it using the aquapainter and inks from the lids of my ink pads. I love coloring with the aquapainter! For the background texture I ran some riding hood red cardstock through my cuttlebug using the argyle embossing folder. Then I used the scallop border punch to make the scallops up the side. The card is made from Kiwi Kiss cardstock. I love these color together!

stamps: Christmas Kitty by Pink Cat Studio
ink: black, various
paper: whisper white, riding hood red, kiwi kiss, chocolate chip, creamy caramel
other: striped grosgrain ribbon from SU, scallop border punch, cuttlebug

Pink Cat Christmas...

When I saw these stamps from Pink Cat Studio, I could not resist. I've always admired their designs and this one was so adorable I had to have it. I loved the little kitty angel and the "meowy Christmas" sentiment. For this card I used Stampin' Up Cardstock in Pacific Point and Baja Breeze blues and then Chocolate chip and Barely Banana. I stamped the cat image in Basic black and colored it using aquapainters and ink. I then went over it with some silver bells shimmerz which makes is sparkle lightly...It's hard to see in the picture but it's really pretty. Here's a close-up. Maybe you can see it a little in this one.

I found the cute little button brads in a little scrapbook store up in Hayward where I was over thanksgiving. So cute!

Merry Christmas!!

I'm back! Sorry it took me a couple of days to catch up on being back. I still have a mountain of laundry to do but that's another story. Since it's snowing here today I thought I'd start out my first post in December by sharing a Christmas card!

This card uses the Riding hood red and kiwi kiss cardstock. I think these work great together for christmas, especially with the chocolate chip added (I know, I just love adding chocolate chip to almost everything but it makes a great neutral!)

This card would be super easy to make. I just stamped the flowers and flourishes on the whisper white and framed it with the Chocolate chip. Then I stamped two flowers on a separate piece, cut them out and added them on with dimensionals. That takes the longest but you could skip that part if you don't mind a flat card. The green was scalloped using the scallop border punch. That's it. easy peasy.

stamps:Season of Joy
ink: Kiwi Kiss, Riding Hood Red, Chocolate Chip
paper: Kiwi Kiss, Riding Hood Red, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
other: Scallop Border Punch.

Holiday Boat!

Here's a different twist on a holiday card. I have the set Loads of Love and I love it and how you can combine the elements to put stuff in the truck. So when I purchased Boatloads of Love I thought it would be great to try to combine these two sets! So here's what I came up with. I took the tree from Loads of Love and put it in the back of the boat from Boatloads of love! Isn't that fun? It's hard to tell in the photos, but I actually stamped the image twice. I colored the whole boat using ink and aqua painters and then on the second image, I just colored the bottom part, cut it out and put it over the top as a dimensional. It makes a really cool effect, like the tree is inside the boat. Then I matted the image with riding hood red card stock and the card is made from Kiwi kiss card stock and pacific point card stock.

stamps:Loads of Love, Boatloads of love
ink:basic black, kiwi kiss, riding hood red, pacific point
paper:whisper white, basic black, kiwi kiss, riding hood red, pacific point
other:scallop border punch

Here is another card I made with this set that's not holiday, but still fun. I used the cuttlebug embossing folder to create the background with the circles. The image is colored with an aqua painter and ink and matted with real red card stock.

stamps: Boatloads of love
ink:basic black, green galore, real red, tempting turquoise,
paper: whisper white
, green galore, real red, tempting turquoise,
other: cuttlebug for embossing, circle punch, turqouise ribbon, striped grosgrain ribbon.

Here are some photos of the trees everyone made too:

clear ornament

And here is the last of the ornaments for this weeks class. This one is really simple, yet really beautiful. It's a clear glass ball filled with rolled papers. I used paper from the Ski Slope Designer paper by Stampin' Up! It creates such an elegant looking ornament. I love how it turned out! The ribbon is also from SU. It's the riding hood red satin ribbon and it's just gorgeous!

scallop ornament

Happy Snow day in Wisconsin! Yikes!

Here is another close-up of an ornament we will be making in this weeks class. I used the scallop punch to create 4 scallops from the Ski Slope designer paper. The snowflake stamp is from the set Snow Burst, which is a really cool modern looking snowflake set from Stampin' Up! Then I accesorized it with beads from the Pretties Kit. I love how this turned out. It's way cooler than I thought it would be. I want to make a bunch of these to tie on my christmas gifts this year!!

pinecone ornament

Can you believe its going to snow this weekend? It's been so unseasonably warm here that it comes as a shock, even though it shouldn't since it IS November, after all. Sigh. I don't know if I'm ready for winter yet but at least it means I get to make fun holiday stamping projects!

Here is the a close-up of the Pinecone Ornament we will be making in my class next week. These are super easy to make although a little time consuming. It takes a whole sheet of double-sided cardstock, which you cut into tiny pieces, fold and assemble. It's a little hard to describe but those of you coming to my class will learn how to do it.

For my sample I used a piece of paper from the Ski Slope Designer Series from SU. Then the ribbon on top is the 5/8" olive grosgrain.

November?

Wow....when did it become November? I can't believe it! It totally snuck up on me...I was in such a Halloween mode and now, all of sudden, It's nearly time for the holidays!!! Yikes!

Today I'm sharing with you a preview of my Holiday Decor Class. If you live nearby, contact me to sign up. We're going to be making this fun set of holiday decorations using the new designer Holiday papers. In the photo there is a decorative tree and three ornaments. More details and instructions will be give during my class. Here is a close-up of the tree. I just love these. They're easy to make and look so cool!

spooky nights...

Sorry this photo is a little fuzzy, but I wanted to share this card with you. I can't believe it's halloween in just a few days!!

For this card I used the House of Haunts stamp set to stamp the tree. Then to make the moon, I punched a circle out of a sticky note and laid it on top of the tree to create a circle mask. Then I sponged inside the hole with orange and yellow ink. Pull off the sticky note and...ta dah! You have a circle shape. It's such an easy way to make a moon and it works so great with this set! Then I framed it with some chocolate chip cardstock and a piece of leftover apple cider designer paper (retired). I used the same tree to stamp the background pattern on the left, just repeated it up the side. The sentiment "spooky nights" is from the halloween frights stamp set.

stamps: House of Haunts, Halloween Frights
ink: chocolate chip, more mustard, pumpkin pie
paper: more mustard, really rust, chocolate chip, pumpkin pie, whisper white
other: ribbons(non SU)

Yet another halloween card...

Are you getting sick of them yet? I hope not since it's still another week until Halloween! We finished putting up our Halloween decorations last night and let me tell you, our house is going to be Awesome!! I'm so excited for the trick-or-treaters to see it.

This card uses the cat from the Halloween Frights stamp set from SU. It's a really simple card. I stamped the cat on the white square, rounded the corners and layered it with a scallop square that I made with the nestabilites scallop dies in my cuttlebug. Then I layered it with some Designer paper from SU and black that I used the scallop border punch on. Are you getting sick of scallops yet? Not me. I love them!

stamps: Halloween Frights
ink: Black, White
paper: tangerine tango, kiwi kiss, black, white, river rock (retired), Ghostly Greetings
other:corner rounder, brads, nestablities scallop squares, cuttlebug

Owl Anniversary

Here is a fun anniversary card I made for an October wedding anniversary. I just thought the way the owls were looking at each other was so cute and sort of comical and romantic at the same time...plus I just love owls!! I cut the paper out using the nestabilities square scallop die in my cuttlebug. You send the die through twice, once to make the outside cut and then again with a different amount of pressure to do the embossing on the edge. I really love how these squares look but they are a little laborious to make. I think next time I'm going to make a whole pile of them so I just have them on hand when I want to use some.

Once I had the owls stamped I colored them using markers and aqua painters. Then I stamped Happy Anniversary under them from the Stampin' Up! set Hugs and Wishes. The patterned paper is scrap I had left from last years Apple Cider Designer paper from SU. Boy am I sad that is discontinued. I really loved that paper!!

The base of the card is really rust cardstock and I stamped up the one side using the small flower from the Eastern Blooms set since that set just happened to be on my table! I love how it turned out, so cute and simple!

stamps:owl Buddies (from A Muse stamps), Hugs & Wishes (SU), Eastern Blooms (SU)
ink:Basic Black, Earth Elements Markers
paper:Really Rust, Apple Cider Designer paper (retired), whisper white
other: Taffeta Ribbon, Nestabilities scallop square

House of Haunts Card

Another Halloween card...are you sick of them yet? This one uses the House of Haunts set from Stampin' Up!. I stamped it with black ink and then sponged around it with yellow and green ink. I stamped the pumpkins with tangerine tango before I cut them out and adhered them. the one is popped out with a pop dot. I like how this card turned out...the house is so spooky!

stamps: house of haunts
ink:black, old olive, tangerine tango,
paper:black, old olive, whisper white, lovely lilac

Spooky Owl card

I'm not sure if this is my favorite card I've made but I thought I'd try something simple and a little different. This card uses the Halloween Frights set from Stampin' Up! I inked the owl with really rust ink and then inked the edges with a chocolate chip marker to achieve that two-toned look. I think that adds some charter to the owl. Then I punched him out with the circle punch and thought it might be fun to punch out the words too. I also used my favorite scallop border punch. What do you think? too simple?

stamps:Halloween Frights,
ink: basic black, really rust, chocolate chip, more mustard
paper:basic black, whisper white, kiwi kiss, summer sun, close to cocoa
other: pumpkin pie ribbon, punches

spooky cat!

Happy Thursday! Here's another Halloween card with the ghouls & goblins set from inkadinkado! I love the little cat hiding under the sheet! so cute!! To make this card I used pumpkin pie card stock for the base, then used the web embossing folder on my cuttle bug to make the web embossed on the black cardstock. I stamped the cat with black ink and framed it with some kiwi kiss cardstock. I also used the scallop border punch and some ribbon from michaels.

sweet spooky treats!

Happy Monday! It was such a beautiful weekend here, in the 70's and 80's that I didn't even take time to stamp! Can you believe it? We spent some time doing stuff outdoors instead...but here's a few treats I made last week that I haven't shown you yet!

The first one is a treat holder that I made using the sizzix pillow box die. Stampin' Up now sells some of these die-cuts along with the Big Shot die cut machine so I thought I'd better give it a try. But since I'm on a budget and already had a cuttlebug, I had to make it work in that machine instead of buying a new one. It took a few trys and I broke one well-used plate for my cuttlebug but I finally figured it out. I think the little pillow box is super cute! For the tag, I used my ever-popular scallop punch and the owl from the halloween frights set!

The second treat is an idea I found off some other blogs but I just had to copy it because it's so cute! I found the test tubes at Michaels and filled them with reeses pieces (Yum), and stamped a tag for them. For these tags I used the Batty for you set!

Tic Tac Bat!

TGIF, right? I'm so glad it's friday. This has been one long week for me at work and I'm excited for the much needed weekend. Besides, it's supposed to be super warm out this weekend here!

Today I'm sharing one of the halloween treats I recently made. Here's a close-up of the tic tac holder. I just think these are really adorable!! I even found some orange tic tacs to put inside. Basically it's just a book-style wrap around the tic tacs, which I adhered in using sticky strip. Then decorate as you'd like. I used Batty for you and added on some little google eyes!

stamps: batty for you
ink:basic black, pumpkin pie
paper: basic black, pumpkin pie, Ghostly Greetings designer paper
other: google eyes, pumpkin pie grosgrain ribbon, scallop and circle punches

Mummy Cat....so cute!

Last night my cat, Hobbes, was being silly and running around, as cats sometimes do and he ran into the bathroom where I was brushing my teeth and attacked the toilet paper roll! It was so funny, I've never seen him do that before!

So, today I'm sharing a toilet-paper cat card! This stamp is part of a set from inkadinkado called Ghouls & Goblins. I thought it was so cute and had to buy it because of the funny Halloween kitties!

To make this card, I used pumpkin pie cardstock for the base, then I used black cardstock and the web embossing plate from my cuttlebug to create the black web. the ribbon is from Michaels and the image is stamped on whisper white with black ink. I used the sentiment "halloween frights" from the Halloween Frights set from SU.

stamps: Ghouls & Goblins (inkadinkado), Halloween frights
ink:black
paper:pumpkin pie, wild wasabi, black
other:orange eyelets, halloween ribbon, cuttlebug

House of Haunts Popcorn slider

Here is one of the projects I designed for my Halloween treats class. I love how these turned out! I bought some mini popcorn packs to make these...they were from world market in the Halloween section and pop up orange!.

For this project I didn't have measurements so I just meastured the height of the popcorn, cut a piece of cardstock slightly longer than that and then wrapped it around the bag to see how long it should be. A lot of times I jsut use trial and error to figture out how to make things!

Here's how I did it--
Black cardstock is 5.5 x 8 inches. I don't know if that is a standard size mini popcorn so you might have to adjust it to fit the ones you buy. Wrap around the bag of popcorn and use sticky strip to adhere on the back (mono adhesive won't be strong enough, it will pop back open). Then take out the popcorn, put a little adhesive on the bottom and crimp up the bottom with a fiskars paper crimper, just a half inch or so.

Put two holes or slits near the top of the pocket. I added eyelets to make mine look nice. Then wrap the ribbon around the popcorn bag the long way, stick it in the pouch and feed the ribbon through the holes. Tie ribbon above bag. Once this is done, you can hold onto the bottom of the pouch with one hand and grab the ribbon with the other hand and pull.....ta da, the popcorn slides out...cool, huh?
Here's a pic with the popcorn partially pulled out.

Decorate your pouch as you'd like. I used House of Haunts and the new Halloween designer series paper Ghostly Greetings from Stampin' Up!

Hope you like this project and enjoy making your own. Stay tuned for more Halloween stuff!

stamps:Haunting Halloween
paper:Ghostly Greetings, basic black, pumpkin pie, whisper white
ink:basic black, pumpkin pie, so saffron

Embrace Life Birthday card

Wow, is it Monday already? The weekends just fly by, don't they? I spent some quality time Sunday stamping some cool Halloween cards but I haven't taken photos of them yet, so meanwhile I'm sharing this one...

This is another card using the embrace life set and the new in colors. I used the same method as my last post to color the main image on this card (aqua painters and ink pads). Then I layered it over a simple background pattern. I really like how this card turned out. I like how the simplicity of the simple pattern contrasts with the main focal image. This would be a great birthday card or just a best wishes card.

Embracing the new In Colors!

This is one of the first cards I made using the new in-colors from Stampin' Up! I love having new colors to play with but I really wish they made them in markers too...I'm sure there's a good reason that they don't' but I've always wished for markers. So, for this card I found a way around that problem.....I wanted the flowers to match the new tangerine orange color so I used my aqua painters and the ink pads to color them! Ever done this? It's easy. You just squeeze your ink pad so some of the ink gets up in the lid and then use the aqua painter to pick it up and paint with it! It's that simple. Then you have the ability to color with any color that you only have an ink pad for and not a coordinating marker! I don't know why I didn't think of that before!! The only thing you have to remember is to use a waterproof ink (SU's basic black works) and a good cardstock so it doesn't ripple when you paint on it!

ink: tangerine tango, basic black
paper: tangerine tango, kiwi kiss, summer sun

Spooky Treats Class!

I just finished preparing the projects for my spooky treats class this week! (I know, kind of last minute, but I work well under pressure).

We are going to make the following items in the picture:
  • Tic Tac treat holder
  • Mini box with york peppermint patties
  • Test tube with Reeses pieces
  • Mummy and Frankie mini Hershey bar wraps
  • Mini-Popcorn slider
I'm so excited about Halloween and think these projects turned out super cute!! If you live nearby and want to attend, send me an e-mail!

Meanwhile, I have to vent...my husband and I both love Halloween and already started decorating for it. He put up a really cool graveyard in our front yard with gravestones and a fence with orange lights on it. Well, some disrespectful neighborhood kids went by and knocked it all down! Can you believe that? He was so mad. I just think it is so rude for someone to ruin something that is just for fun like that!! Anyway, it's fixable but just annoying that it had to happen, don't you think?

a little Irish card...

Here is a cute little Irish card I made for some family traveling to Ireland. I wanted to wish them a safe and fun trip. This stamp is one from my little house mouse collection. I just love these cute little mouse stamps! All the card stock is Stampin' Up and so is the ribbon. Then I used my new SU border punch to make the scallop border and my swiss dots cuttlebug folder to create the background. I was trying to use lots of shades of green and I think it turned out pretty well. For the image I stamped it in basic black and then used my aqua painters and markers to watercolor it. Then I added the sentiment from everyday flexible phrases on a piece of cardstock and punched it out with the tab punch. Hope you like it!

stamps: O lucky Day (by house mouse designs), Everyday Flexible Phrases
inks: Basic Black, various markers
papers: green galore, garden green, glorious green, whisper white, lovely lilac
other: SU ribbon, SU scallop border punch, SU tab punch, cuttlebug embossing folder

Go Go Beetle Card!

My little sis finally got her drivers license. Since she dresses like a hippie (not to mention the new henna colored hair) and has always wanted a Volkswagen beetle, I thought I'd send her one as a congratulations! I made the car by punching out a few different sized circles from so saffron card stock. I stamped some flowers on them and trimmed them down to half circles to make the body of the car. Then I punched out black and white circles for the wheels and put flower brads in for the hubcaps! To make the road I used the paper piercing template to make holes and then connected them with a white gel marker. I love how this turned out. It's so cute. I also found some ribbon that I had bought a while back in the dollar spot that said "road trip" so I thought that was the perfect touch!

Friend card...

I haven't had time to play with my new SU stuff yet (I know, can you believe it? I'm hoping to play tonight with it) so meanwhile here's a card I made recently. It uses a stamp from Inkadinkado. If you can't read the sentiment it's really cute. It says "Friends are the chocolate chips in the cookies of life." I got this set on my last order from all that scraps, one of my favorite online shops. I stamped him using black ink on whisper white card stock and colored with SU markers. The scallop shape is a nestabilities die that I ran through my cuttlebug. The flowers are from a mixture I bought at archivers.

I just love how simple and cute this card turned out. Now I just have to decide who to send it to, everyone loves chocolate, right?

Boat Birthday

Here is a set that I've had for awhile but haven't used a whole lot yet. I thought I'd pull it out to make this birthday card. The set is called Boatloads of Love from Stampin' Up! The boat is stamped in basic black. To watercolor the boat, I scribbled markers onto the plastic lid of the stamp box, then used the aquapainter to pick up the colors and paint in the boat. I used a few different shades of blue and ruby red to color it in. The happy birthday circle is from the Think Happy Thoughts stamp set. I used a coordinating blue button in the middle of the circle. The ribbons and paper colors are now retired since they aren't in the new catalog.

stamps: Boatloads of Love, Think Happy Thoughts
paper: Brocade Blue, whisper white, purely pomegranate, night of Navy
other: ribbons, cuttlebug, circle punches

Always card

This is definitely one of my favorite SU sets right now. I just love this bird! I've made a few cards with it but I wanted to make one using the "Always" sentiment so here's that one.

I made this card more masculine colors, using not quite navy and bashful blue with creamy caramel. It's a really simple card. I just stamped the caramel paper with the branch image, then stamped with bird with not quite navy, and mounted him on the bashful blue card stock. I did paper piercing on two sides of the image and stamped the sentiment below. If you can't read it it says "you mean everything to me." It's a simple card, I didn't even use ribbon, but I love how it turned out!

stamps: Always
ink: Not quite navy, creamy caramel
paper: whisper white, creamy caramel, bashful blue, not quite navy
other: paper piercing, circle punches

Happy Thoughts!

How is it Wednesday already? I can't believe how fast the days fly by, with so little time to stamp!

Here is a card I recently made with the stamp set Hey Chicky from C.C. Designs. This set is super cute. I just love how cute and simple her designs are.

All card stock is from SU. I used Gable Green for the card base. Then put a piece of tempting turquoise through my cuttlebug to create the embossed dots on the left. I stamped the chicky on white and colored him with copic markers. I then framed that image with apricot appeal card stock and taken with teal card stock. For the sentiment I used the stamp from Think Happy Thoughts (AGAIN, I know) and put a cute brad in the center from Making Memories. This is an appropriate card for today since it's rainy and I'm tired and could use some happy, sunny thoughts!

stamps:Hey chicky from C.C. Designs, Think Happy Thoughts from SU.
ink: black, copic markers
paper: Gable Green, Tempting Turquoise, Taken with Teal, Apricot Appeal, white.
other: SU scallop and circle punches, Ribbon from target dollar spot, brad from Making memories.

Sleepy bear card

The house mouse stamp company now has these super cute bears stamps called Gruffies. I wanted to order some online but then found a couple at my local Hobby Lobby store and they were on sale! Who could resist, right?

I made this card using the Bedtime Story stamp. I made the embossed background using a circle template on my cuttlebug. Then I colored him with copics and framed him with Taken with Teal and pumpkin pie card stock. For the sentiment I used happy thoughts stamp from the
Think Happy Thoughts stamp set from SU. I punched it out with the 1 3/8" circle punch and framed it with a scallop circle punched out of tempting turquoise. For the center of the shape I used a felt flower from SU and a cute little flower brad from Making memories.

stamps: Gruffies bear stamp from House Mouse, Think Happy Thoughts from SU
ink: Black, tempting turqouise
paper: Creamy Caramel, Close to Cocoa, Pumpkin pie, tempting turquoise, taken with teal, whisper white.
other: Scallop and circle punches, felt flowers, flower brad, ribbon, cuttlebug
